Citrix CCA-V in top 15 IT certifications in 2019
Great news for Citrix certified professionals. Global Knowledge has ranked the CCA-V (Citrix Certified Associate - Virtualization) certification #12 out of the top 15 IT certifications for 2019. They report that IT professionals with CCA-V certifications make an average of $113,442 per year.
The full Global Knowledge IT Skills and Salary Report for 2019 will be released later this year, but we are told that for a certification to qualify, it must have at least 100 survey respondents.
Besides Citrix's CCA-V, there was a strong emphasis on cloud computing this year, including Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect (#1, $139,529), AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (#4, $132,840), and AWS Certified Developer – Associate (#5, $130,369).
Surprisingly, Citrix's CCA-V came in higher than three other very popular certifications, including Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching (#15, $106,957).
CCA-V all alone for Citrix certifications, but demanding much respect
The CCA-V certification was the only Citrix certification on the list this year, but as far as salary goes, this year it ranks higher than 2018's CCP-V (Citrix Certified Professional - Virtualization), which was #11 at $103,424. It also easily outranks 2018's CCA-N (Citrix Certified Associate – Networking) which was #15 at $99,217.
Possibly even better news is that the CCA-V is an entry-level certification that requires a relatively short amount of time with hands-on experience with a XenApp and XenDesktop 7.15 environment, and the passing of only one exam, the 1Y0-203 Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop 7.15 Administration exam. This is by far the best-seller on Citrixxperience.com and we'll go out on a limb to say it is Citrix Education's best selling exam right now.
Maybe the best news of all is that "demand is fairly high and supply low to command a premium salary," from what Global Knowledge can glean from their 2019 survey (and possibly other sources).
Time to get CCA-V certified?
Of course, this doesn't mean just anyone should rush out and take the 1Y0-203 exam and expect a premium salary, but if you're out there sitting on the fence about it, this might be the time to seriously consider jumping off of the fence and getting CCA-V certified.
